TRIPOD IMPLANT AFTER COMPLETED OSTEOINTEGRATION

This model was constructed using the tripod implant model with connected screws in which a volume of cortical bone was modelled around the shafts of the screws inserted in the cancellous bone. The purpose was to simulate the situation where a neoformation of compact bone forms around the screws some time after surgery.

It was not possible to reconstruct the volume of cortical bone around the lower part of the central screw because of geometric problems.
Owing to the very complex shape of the model, discretisation was performed in part directly (by dividing the contour lines), and in part automatically: the result was ordered and regular, but it was necessary to leave out the chin bone volume in order not to exceed the maximum number of elements allowed.
